The 144 Corridor Housing Initiative board reports that the first demolition project has been completed. Now in its second year, the 144 CHI is providing a cost share to homeowners in Paton, Dana, Grand Junction and Rippey for exterior home improvements or demolition of unsightly and dilapidated buildings.
John Rigler III of Peoples Bank reports that nine applications were received for a total of $92,360 in the four towns. 144CHI was able to award $40,000 toward six of the projects, representing about 75 percent of each project. Homeowners are contributing the remaining 25 percent. Grow Greene County provided the demolition funds.
“Between our demolition grants, as well as those for exterior home improvements, we’re thrilled that dozens of people across each of our communities are making substantial personal investments alongside our investments this year,” Rigler said. “Over the course of several years we hope to continue making a positive impact on each of our communities.”
Rigler thanked Grow Greene County, other donors, and board members Mary Weaver of Rippey; Alan Robinson, Joan Dearborn and Derek Kennedy of Grand Junction; and Jake Bohnet and Annie Smith of Paton.
144CHI is an IRS-qualified 501c3 and can accept tax-deductible donations from anyone who wants to help their community.
